Lishui University is located in Lishui City, known as the "first ecological city in China" with the titles of "Xiushan Lishui, a place of health and longevity". Its educational history can be traced back to the Chuzhou Junior Normal School founded under the guidance of Master Sun Zhirang, a renowned Confucian scholar. In December 1978, Lishui Normal College was established with the approval of the State Council. In September 2004, based on the merger of Lishui Normal College and Lishui Vocational and Technical College, it was upgraded and renamed Lishui College with the approval of the Ministry of Education. In May 200, it passed the undergraduate teaching qualification assessment of the Ministry of Education.
